On this date in 1988, Bill and Camille Cosby made a generous gift to a Historically Black College (HBCU). The Cosby's made a $20 million gift to Spelman College in Atlanta. Over the years, the school acknowledged his contribution by repeatedly honoring him.
In July 2015, a college official said The William and Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby Endowed Professorship would be discontinued, and all remaining funds returned. It was the latest in an avalanche of backturns and changes of heart in the wake of the various sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby.
