Lloyd Haynes

Lloyd Haynes was born on this date in 1934. He was a Black television actor.

Samuel Lloyd Haynes, born in South Bend, IN, served in the Marines in the Korean War and was a Navy commander.

As an actor, Haynes starred as a history teacher "Pete Dixon" on TV's Room 222, one of the most popular TV shows of the 1960s. The series chronicled the lives of the students and teachers at the fictional Walt Whitman High School.

He also played “Mayor Morgan” on General Hospital, and on Star Trek, he played "Lieutenant Alden" in the episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before.” Samuel Lloyd Hayes died of lung cancer on January 1, 1987, at 52.
