Sherian Cadoria, General born

Gen. Sherian Cardonia

*Sherian Grace Cadoria was born on this date in 1943. She is a retired Black Brigadier General military officer. 

Born in Marksville, Louisiana. She is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and holds a Master of Arts in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. Initially in the Women's Army Corps, she transferred to the Military Police Corps in the 1970s. In 1985, Cadoria became the first Black woman in the U.S. Army to become General and the second Black female in history to earn this honor.

She retired from active duty in 1990. After her retirement, Cadoria began a new career as a professional speaker and consultant. In 1995, the Business and Professional Women National organization named her Woman of the Year.
