Don Mitchell

*Don Mitchell was born on this date in 1943. He was a Black actor.

From Houston, Texas, Mitchell left home to attend UCLA-Fine Arts college to become an actor. Producer Collier Young spotted him and cast him in the TV series "Ironside" (1967) as Mark Sanger, the ex-con who assisted Raymond Burr's wheelchair-bound cop on the original 1967-75 NBC series. He also reprised the role in a 1993 reunion movie.  Mitchell also appeared on shows like “I Dream of Jeannie,” “The Fugitive,” and “The Virginian,” with Pam Grier and William Marshall in the 1973 film “Scream Blacula, Scream.”

He was married twice and had two daughters. Don Mitchell died December 8, 2013, at his home in Encino, CA, of natural causes at the age of 70.
