Major League Baseball Hires its First Black Manager

Frank Robinson

On this date in 1975, Frank Robinson became manager of the Cleveland Indians baseball club.  Robinson was a former Most Valuable Player (MVP) in both leagues, Cincinnati and Baltimore.  He was the first black manager in major league baseball.
