George H. Imes

*George Hezekiah Imes was born on this date in 1844.  He was a soldier and minister.

Imes enlisted as a Private in the American Civil War from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and mustered into Company D, 43rd United States Colored Infantry on March 11, 1864, at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Appointed Corporal on April 1, 1864.

Promoted to Sergeant on May 30, 1864. He mustered out of active service at Brownsville, Texas, on October 20, 1865. He married Lucinda Clark Armstrong on August 4, 1870, in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

George H. Imes died on August 24, 1892, in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was buried at Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in McAlisterville, Juniata County, Pennsylvania.
