Dr. King Jr.
On this date in 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. traveled to Chicago and discovered that no church would allow him to preach.
These houses of worship said he was too radical a minister. Friendship Baptist Church, located at 5200 W. Jackson on Chicago's West Side, allowed King to speak, where he addressed the American Civil Rights movement. Reverend Shelvin J. Hall was the church’s minister at the time.
