*On this date in 2018, the Legacy Museum from Enslavement to Incarceration opened.  The Museum is an African American history museum that covers broad themes from slavery to present-day police violence. Housed in a building that once housed slaves, the museum hosts hundreds of exhibits dedicated to the domestic slave trade practiced in America.

Visitors can browse through historical artifacts and sculptures and see videos and interactive media related to the slave trade. Other exhibits on contemporary issues, like unfair punishments to convicts and mass black incarceration, can also be viewed.
