Miles College Begins Classes

*This date celebrates the founding of Miles College in 1905. It is among over 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in America.

It is located in Birmingham, Alabama, a private liberal arts institution with a proud history of producing teachers, preachers, community leaders, and politicians.  Miles College is a Christian Methodist Episcopal Church-related, four-year institution that emphasizes the personal development of all individuals, regardless of race. Former students possess an understanding of their mission in a global society.

Miles College is a fully accredited member of the Commission on Colleges and Southern Association of Colleges and is a member of the United Negro College Fund. Miles offers Bachelor's Degree programs with majors in Accounting, Asian Studies, Biology, Biology Education, Business Administration, Chemistry, Chemistry Education, Communications, Elementary Education, English, Environmental Science, Language Arts Education, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Political Science, Social Science Education, and Social Work.
